Door County’s music community is coming together once again to support acclaimed musician Jay Whitney with a silent auction on January 10 at the Donald and Carol Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor.
Whitney, a cornerstone of the local music scene known for his masterful guitar work and soulful vocals both as a solo artist and with Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns, suffered a stroke in early 2023. In response, fellow musicians and community members are organizing the 2nd Annual Fundraiser & Silent Auction to aid in his recovery.
“This event represents the deep bonds within our musical family,” says Terry Lundahl, event organizer and music coordinator for the Art of Music Winter Concert Series. “Last year’s tremendous community support raised $7,000, and this year we’re aiming even higher with a goal of $12,000.
The evening features a performance by Dorothy Scott and the Peacekeepers at 7:00 PM, with the silent auction beginning at 4:00 PM on the Pavilion’s first level. Among the premium auction items is a rare combination of an art book and print by renowned artist Charles Peterson, valued at $500.
The Donald and Carol Kress Pavilion, located at 7845 Church Street in Egg Harbor, provides an elegant backdrop for this meaningful community gathering. The event not only celebrates Whitney’s contributions to Door County’s vibrant music scene but also demonstrates the community’s commitment to supporting one of its own during challenging times.
